BRES Project Description

The project aims to investigate the impact of PFAS exposure on mental health, particularly in communities of color. It involves integrating research findings into an existing curriculum to raise awareness about environmental justice and social inequalities related to drinking water quality. The research focuses on assessing PFAS contamination levels, examining socio-economic factors contributing to disparities, investigating health outcomes, and developing policy recommendations.  The curriculum will cover topics such as PFAS contamination, environmental justice, qualitative research methods, policy analysis, and community-based learning activities. Classroom activities will include group discussions, case studies, research projects, and guest speakers. Assessment methods include research papers, presentations, and reflections to enhance student learning outcomes.  Overall, the project aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the complex interconnections between environmental health, social justice, and mental well-being, while also developing critical thinking, research, and advocacy skills.
